To All Members, Sponsors and Friends of PRUFC

We need to advise that as a result of the ongoing drought situation and the impact it has had on sports grounds everywhere, the RFU has taken the decision now to delay the start of the 2026/27 league season. This decision has been made in the interests of player safety and to allow pitches to properly recover from the impact of the drought. We at Pocklington RUFC fully support the decision.

The impact of the decision is that our league programme is now planned to commence on Saturday 26th September when the First XV host Old Brodleians and the Panthers travel to Selby. Details of the Pilgrims fixtures will be confirmed in due course. Our Women's team are now due to start their league season the following day (27th) at Old Brodleians.

This decision has not been taken lightly and has an impact on the adult playing side, particularly pre-season preparations. Our coaching teams are now resetting their plans to ensure we are fully prepared for late September.

Our match day arrangements are also impacted and changes to lunch schedules and sponsor commitments will be communicated in due course.

In the meantime we are all hoping for some rain to make our pitches playable again.
